Lady Justice is based on the Greek goddess Themis − honored as clear-sighted − and the Roman goddess Justicia − honored as representing the virtue of justice. She is blindfolded because justice is unbiased and should not be based on a person's appearance or other outside influences.During my residency, I worked on some art projects the main one was “ paper dolls” but worked over “ no place for Butterflies” , “ justice” and finally “eyes”.

Although many people think of Lady Justice as wearing a blindfold, she can also be shown without one. Both versions highlight her impartiality. As in the phrase “justice is blind,” the blindfold implies that she does not judge on appearance.
